Lamin Lodge/Daranka (half day)

An interesting day out for nature lovers

Departure by car to Lamin, where there is an impressive large tree with texts from visitors from all over the world, also called the Internet three. Learn about the process of processing the oysters and shells that are spread out here. The oysters grow on the roots of the mangrove. Women harvest the oysters in their small canoes. Then we take a small boat tour through the beautiful mangrove.
Then we arrive in Daranka, where there is the largest Silk Cotton or Elephant Tree in Gambia, so big that you can even climb into it. The tree is still used for traditional rituals today. A special piece of Gambia's nature.
Take a photo at the tree, like a real Photo Booth.
We will take you back to the hotel around noon.

Astonishing!

Overall unbelievable experience! We went on 3 excursions with Aladin from River Gambia Tours: and it was so breathtaking. Firstly, we went to Jangjangbureh where you will be enlightened with knowledge concerning slavery and other thoughtful topics. After we went to see the hippos and food markets, we slept by the Gambia River in a lovely lodge. The next excursion was to Senegal (park Fatalah) where we saw zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, etc. living freely in an astonishing nature. I never saw majestic animals this happy! The route with the open jeep to Fatalah was also memorable: you can stand up and witness lots of beautiful Senegal. Lastly, we went to Makasutu (the sacred forest) this was a crazy experience as well. You will see lots of monkeys from close by! Also, a lot of valuable information concerning plants and nature. We even drank fresh palm wine straight from the tree!
I just cannot describe how much I was enlightened with joy and information during these 3 tours. Last but not least: I want to thank Aladin. Aladin is such a funny, friendly guide (you will love him!). He even helped us with troubles regarding our flight, which are not included in the ‘tours’. Without Aladin, we wouldn’t have seen the real Gambia. I am very thankful to have someone so witty on our beautiful voyage.
Thank you for everything, Aladin! And let each one, teach one. <3
