3-Day Private Tour from The Gambia to Saly & Petite Côte – Senegal
Shell Island, salt flats, mangroves, Somone Lagoon and the relaxed Senegalese coast
Discover Senegal’s beautiful Petite Côte on a relaxed three-day private journey from The Gambia, combining colourful local life, coastal scenery, mangroves and two comfortable nights in Saly.
Day 1 – The Gambia, Kaolack, Fatick, Joal-Fadiouth & Saly
We leave The Gambia and travel via Kaolack and Fatick towards the Petite Côte, seeing salt flats and changing Senegalese landscapes along the way.
A highlight is Joal-Fadiouth, the famous shell island. We walk across the bridge, explore streets covered with shells and see the unusual cemetery and local life. Then we continue to Saly for our first overnight stay.
Day 2 – Somone Lagoon, mangroves & Chez Rasta
Today is all about slowing down and enjoying the water, nature and relaxed atmosphere of Somone Lagoon. We take a pirogue trip across the lagoon, cruising past mangroves, oyster banks and bird areas while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere on the water.
We stop at Chez Rasta for a sociable lunch and time to relax. Afterwards we return to Saly, with time for the beach, a drink or a quiet evening by the coast.
Day 3 – Saly, Mbour & return to The Gambia
After breakfast we enjoy a little more time in Saly and along the coast. If time allows, we visit Mbour or make a short stop at a local village, market or beautiful baobab on the way. Then we return to The Gambia at a relaxed pace.
